After 28 years of being a professional tractor trailer driver I can conclude these facts.
If you have a family and love them then this career is not for you. Truck driving is not
conducive to family life. Some may disagree, but when you make the decision to become
a professional driver you have to take into consideration these things. Will your wife be
able to handle you being gone for long periods of time and not ever knowing when you
will be coming home? At first it all seems great! We get away from each other for a while
and have some space, but after (you the spouse) are rarely ever seen at school functions
with the kids or family get together's your significant other will probably turn on you.
I don't know the exact statistics on how many truckers divorce but I'm sure its above the norm.
On the brighter side once you get your class A CDL you will never go without work again, unless
of coarse you really mess up. The pay is also above average and you usually can work many hours
of over time.
When your young dumb and full of

your body can take being beat by the road but after
many years and millions of miles the road will win and cripple your back, shoulders, neck and other
parts of your body. The chiropractor will be your best friend.
If I had to do it all over again, I would be a truck driver! I love being outside I love meeting new people
I haven't worked inside since 1978. God I feel for those people locked in there jail at work. If you love
being free then trucking is for you.
