Hazmat test
«
on:

Welcome!
Any questions about the hazmat test can be asked and answered here.
I set this forum up because I see the need to help new and experienced drivers with
a place they can go to get the answers they need. The free hazmat practice test at
http://www.enfield-ct.net/hazmat-test/
has become a very popular place to
practice the test and adding this forum is only natural to help all drivers new and old
with questions they may have or information they can contribute.
Enjoy!

I'm new and not sure if this is where to start. I have a Hazmat question I'm confused with. If i have a load that includes 20lbs of Division 2.3 gas and 1,001lbs of flammable gas. What placards do i need if any ? And why, please explain :'(

You must placard ANY quantity of
poisonous (Class 2.3) gas
.
and seeing you have the required amount
(1001 lbs of flammable gas)
that also will need to be placarded.
Sometimes when you have 2 or more hazmat quantities you can use the
DANGEROUS
placard but I don't think you can with the poisonous gas
and have to use
INHALATION HAZARD
and
FLAMMABLE GAS.
Hope that helped!

The amount of questions vary from State to State but the test questions on
http://www.enfield-ct.net/hazmat-test/
as far as I know are the actual questions you will be getting on the test at your local Motor Vehicles Department.

Cargo heaters are used during the winter months to keep the contents of your load from freezing. They are mostly used for Brewery loads (BEER). Here is a link with a picture
http://www.northstarflameless.com/new/cargo-portable.html
Usually in the winter months the shipper will require a refer unit to keep the temperature above freezing. I don't think the cargo heaters are used very much anymore.

There wasn't that many questions on the test I took back in November, maybe 20 questions total and yes the questions are the same as what you will get on the test at least they are in Connecticut. I wouild really like to hear from some of the other States but you know how it goes after you pass the test you just don't care about leaving feedback on a truckers forum.

Kenworth54 What State did you take the test in? I really think that each State has a different amount of questions but they all have to be a certain percentage of correct answers to pass.

I've actually taken the Hazmat test before in the state of NC, but I've moved to West Virginia (long story). It looks like I'm staying here so I have to take the Hazmat again. They didn't do the fingerprinting the first time I took it so that will be nice! Anyway, my question is does anyone know where I can get FREE practice tests and answers? I've looked online and the free one's usually only have about 7 questions and the unlimited ones cost a lot of money. I've also done the one on this site that you suggested...
http://www.enfield-ct.net/hazmat-test/
. It helped, but I need more! The Hazmat test has changed so much since 9/11. So, I could use someone's help on this one. Thanks for any advice you can give in advance!
Oh and before I know it had 30 questions...

The CDL Hazmat Practice Test is no longer free. Click the register link at
http://www.enfield-ct.net/hazmat-test/
to find out the pricing for the site. I'm real sorry to have to make this a pay for site but my costs were not being compensated by google ads and voluntary donations.
